SYMPTOMS:

Patient referred for imaging to evaluate knee pain, weakness, and burning.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS:

1. Tendinosis and low-grade partial-thickness tearing of the proximal patellar tendon at its deep extent. Associated subcutaneous edema anterior to the patella and patellar tendon.

2. Edema within the superolateral aspect of Hoffa’s fat pad, suggesting patellar maltracking.

3. Altered chondral signal intensity involving the medial patellar facet, consistent with the arthroscopic diagnosis of chondromalacia.

4. Small popliteal cyst.
